TDP Heat Lamp
A TDP heat lamp is a specialized therapeutic device that uses a heated mineral plate to emit far-infrared electromagnetic waves for targeted pain relief and improved circulation.
How It Works
Mineral Plate: Coated with a proprietary formula of 33 essential trace elements.
Far-Infrared Emission: Heated from behind, the plate produces bio-responsive waves (2–25 microns) that penetrate deeper than standard heating pads.
Nitric Oxide Release: Stimulates blood flow, oxygenation, and nutrient delivery to damaged tissue.
Common Uses & Benefits
Temporary relief from arthritis, joint stiffness, and muscle spasms.
Reduction of inflammation and soft tissue injuries.
Often used as a smokeless alternative to traditional moxibustion in acupuncture clinics.
Table Warmer
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), warmth is a foundational pillar that supports metabolism, circulation, and overall vitality by fueling the body's vital life force, or Qi.
The Core Role of Warmth
Moves Qi and Blood: Warmth helps energy and blood flow smoothly through the body, while cold causes them to contract and stagnate. Stagnation often leads to pain, fatigue, or cramps.
Supports Yang Energy: Yang represents the body's functional heat, driving digestion, organ function, and immunity. Keeping warm protects Yang, whereas cold depletes it.
Protects Kidney Essence (Jing): The kidneys store the body's deepest foundational reserve of energy. TCM teaches that guarding the lower back, abdomen, and feet from cold protects this vital life reserve.
Practical Ways to Maintain Warmth
Eat Cooked, Warm Foods: Soups, stews, and root vegetables require less digestive energy to process than raw or chilled foods. Spices like ginger and cinnamon add internal heat.
Drink Warm Liquids: Drinking warm or hot water throughout the day—instead of iced beverages—aids digestive strength.
Protect Vulnerable Areas: Layering clothing, wearing scarves to protect the neck, and keeping the feet warm prevent external cold from penetrating the meridians.
Smokeless moxa will enhance the warmth, and of course the TDP heat lamp :)
Please always let me know if you are cold, treatments are personalized to your comfort. If need be, a blanket can be provided and the needle angle can be parallel to the skin.
Private Treatment
I use a HIPPA compliant electronic health records system and you receive treatment in a room with a door for your privacy.
This is a factor of the cost.
More affordable acupuncture (at half of the rate generally) is available in community acupuncture settings where your privacy is compromised by which you will be in a room with others.
Complimentary therapies are unlikely performed.
It is also unlikely you will be provided with a TDP heat lamp and other amenities.
Intakes are not as thorough, and the goal is to get you treatment as time efficiently as possible.
Points are generally selected on the front of the body, as you will likely be in a reclining chair, possibly on a table seperated by curtains or not.
Some community acupuncture clinics have one room where if need be, a patient can recieve private care. Probably only for patients who have issues sitting in a reclined chair position.
